Complete two volume set of this fantastically illustrated translation of Marco Polo's important travelogue, describing his travels through Asia at the end of the thirteenth century, in particular his time spent at the court of Kublai Khan, emperor of the Mongol Empire.
Translated and edited, with notes, by Colonel Sir Henry Yule. Illustrated with thirty five plates to volume I, including tissue-guarded frontispiece, three folding plates and five folding maps. With eighteen plates to volume II, including tissue-guarded frontispiece, a colour plate and three folding plates. Published by John Murray, London, 1903. Publishers’ original dark green cloth boards with black design on upper boards, titles in gilt to spines.

Condition
Firm and well bound volumes. External covers are slightly faded, and with light wear to corners, and edges, and with minor rubbings to head and foot of spines. Internally; the books in very good condition. No names or inscriptions. Some foxing to text block. Inner hinges are very good. All pages are tightly held at the gutter. The text is clean. The illustrations are bright. The folding plates are complete and in nice condition (Please see pictures).
