Antique French cast iron gas heater with cream enamel, dating to circa 1890–1910 (estimated period 1900–1910), marked EMBEL with “Paris” and “LILLE”; features an open Belle Époque design, dimensions 42 × 30 × 20 cm, weight 15 kg, from France and in good condition with minor signs of age and spots.
Description from the seller
Antique French cast iron gas heater (circa 1890–1910), marked 'Paris – Lille' and featuring cream enamel. Elegant openwork Belle Époque design, a rare model with inscription on the front (EMBEL). In beautiful original condition with authentic craquelé enamel. Decorative and popular among collectors of antique stoves and industrial heritage.
Material and style: It is made of cast iron, with an enamel coating. The openwork, ornate patterns are typical of the Victorian or Edwardian style, which was popular around 1880–1910.
Function:
Real gas stove (mini-model): Originally intended to heat small spaces, such as bedrooms or bathrooms.
Model mark: On the back, the words 'PARIS' and 'LILLE' are inscribed. This strongly indicates a French origin. Such markings are typical of French cast iron factories from the late 19th century.
Probable manufacturer: There was a well-known manufacturer in France named Embel (or Émbel) that produced petroleum and gas stoves around 1890–1910. They were known for their elegant cast iron designs and enamel finishes. Based on the design (pierced decorative panels, white enamel, rounded top), this piece likely dates from circa 1890–1910, during the Belle Époque period in France.
Preferably pick up; too heavy and fragile to ship! Offers starting from €50 are allowed.
