The original Berglandkrippe is characterized by intricately carved main figures, crafted according to traditional woodcarving techniques from the Dolomites. The figures are created with careful handwork from noble woods such as maple or linden. Notable are the fine details of the Gröden woodcarving as well as the hand-painted surfaces that convey expression and warmth.

The central display features the Holy Family with Mary, Joseph, and the Christ child. Complementing this are other figures such as shepherds and animals, all exhibiting typical characteristics of mountainland nativity scenes: natural materials, authentic facial features, and precisely crafted details.

The construction is based on high-quality wood, combined with delicate shades and traditional hand painting. Each figure constitutes a standalone small work of art that depicts the Christmas story in a clear, calm visual language.
