Description from the seller

Marbled glass vase, produced by Verreries de Scailmont (Manage, Belgium), circa 1925–1935. The decoration, the double white opaline, and the marbled coloring—terms frequently used by Scailmont for its blown pieces and lampshades—allow for a confident attribution to the house, which is well documented for its marbled opalines from the interwar period.

The silhouette is broad and balanced: a discreet annular foot supports a perfectly globular body, narrowed at the shoulder before flaring into a tubular neck. The lip, edged and strongly undulated, forms a festooned collar that catches the light and lively finishes the piece. The color is a deep peach pink – a rare shade – streaked with veins of a deep mauve that branch out in transparency. The marbling varies with the thickness of the glass: more vivid and dense at the base, they stretch into ascending filaments along the neck. Inside, the opalescent white lining softens the hue and gives the whole a satin-like presence.

The marbled appearance results from a typical hot work process: a first layer of white opaline is blown, then coated with a pink-tinted layer. Irregular frits and violet glass threads are then applied to the surface, fused and 'drawn' to create these organic veining patterns. The shape is finished with free blowing, the lip being crenellated with pliers and polished over fire; the ring foot is formed by retraction and recutting. This double-glass technique provides particularly flattering chromatic depth and luminous diffusion.

The vase reacts to ultraviolet light (365nm), confirming the presence of manganese in the glass composition and its dating. The condition is remarkable: no cracks, chips, or restorations. Fresh and shiny surface, suitable for demanding decorative use.

Les Verreries de Scailmont, founded in 1901 in Manage, distinguished themselves in the 1920s–1930s by an innovative art glass production (pressed and blown), notably collaborating with Henri Heemskerk and Charles Catteau. At their peak, they employed nearly 800 people; however, the 'art glass' section ceased in 1952, leaving behind a highly sought-after body of Art Deco and modernist creations.

The dimensions are:
Height: 24 centimeters.
Width: 22 centimeters.
Upper diameter: 13.3 centimeters.
- Base diameter: 13.5 centimeters.
Weight: 1400 grams.

The vase will be carefully packed and shipped quickly in a secure manner. On-site pickup and grouped delivery are available. The photos are part of the description.
