Zou de Nederlands Chinese schrijfster Lulu Wang puur op de literaire waarde van haar boek ‘Het lelietheater’ alleen al in Nederland zo’n kleine miljoen exemplaren hebben verkocht? Nee, natuurlijk niet. Het succes van het debuut in 1997 dat bij de uitgeverij Vassalluci verscheen was louter en alleen te danken aan de introductie van het begrip marketing in de wereld van het boek: Het boek als product. En ere wie ere toekomt, het was Oscar van Gelderen (later Lebowski) die het begrip succesvol introduceerde in de tot dan toe conservatieve uitgeverswereld.
Dat kunnen wij ook, dachten ze zo’n twintig jaar later bij De Bezige Bij in Amsterdam. En geloof het of niet om de ingedutte aanhang van Tommy ‘Speedboot’ Wieringa weer wat leven in te blazen, ging aan zijn nieuwste roman, ‘De heilige Rita’, een  wel heel erg doordachte marketringtruc vooraf: de 0e druk!
Grappig verzonnen, maar deze op het in het Nederlands taalgebied mondjesmaat uit de VS overgewaaide ‘ongecorrigeerde proef’-boek gebruikte variant, is onzin natuurlijk. Want de 0e druk van een boek bestaat niet. Als je de ‘0’ zoals gebruikelijk als ‘niet’ beschouwt. 
Maar goed, de 0e druk van De heilige Rita bestaat dus wel degelijk. En ook nog eens in zeer beperkte oplage. Je moet de liefhebbers gretig houden.
De 0e druk in deze kavel is – als die al gelezen is – heel voorzichtig gelezen. Met ander woorden, in zeer goede conditie, zeg maar mooi! En… hij bestaat. Gedrukt en al.

Overigens werd bij diezelfde Bij, hoe bezig kan je zijn – wij kunnen ook grappen maken -, twee jaar geleden (2023) de ‘vondst’ nog eens herhaald met Wieringa’s roman ‘Nirwana’.
