Vintage CEJI chess set 'Jeu d’Échecs n°2' – France, 1970s/1980s – Complete with folding chessboard, original box, and manual.
Made in France by CEJI (Compagnie Européenne du Jouet Industriel), model “Jeu d’Échecs n°2”, created between the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The set is complete and includes:
• 32 figurative pieces with a medieval theme (king, queen, knights, men-at-arms, crenellated towers and barded horses)
• Original folding chessboard in rigid cardboard, covered externally with a leather-effect print and internally printed with an imitation wood finish
• Original CEJI red thermoformed tray
• Rulebook in 5 languages (FR/DE/IT/ES/EN)
• Numbered quality control label (N° 564489 – Control n°2)
• Original illustrated box
The pieces are made of molded plastic (ABS) with an ivory/ebony finish. The set has one detail worth noting: a light-colored tower has a small crack on one of the upper battlements (visible in the photo). The rest of the pieces are intact.
Condition: Good for its age. Complete set; small crack on one of the white tower's merlons; minor signs of use on the box.
