A very rare Italian Baroque processional crucifix, made of brass with a beautifully sculpted corpus of Christ mounted on a rectangular cross with moulded borders. The cross stands on its original bulb-shaped knop (node), typical for liturgical processional crosses from the 17th century.
The corpus shows excellent anatomical details in true Baroque style: finely modeled torso, subtle rib and muscle structure, expressive head turned slightly to the side. The cross is elegant and minimalistic, enhancing the dramatic posture of Christ.
The piece displays age-appropriate wear and small dents consistent with liturgical use, enhancing its authentic historical presence. The later presentation base is included for stability and display.
Condition:
Good structural condition for age. Wear, minor bending and patina spots to brass, as typical. Later stand included.
Provenance:
Private Belgian collection.

• Total height including stand: approx. 81 cm
