Description from the seller
Green underglaze cache-pot – Louis Gueule, Vierzon (France)
Rare and decorative ceramic cachepot, made by Louis Gueule in Vierzon (France), known for his expressive glazes and artisanal quality. This piece is executed in a deep green underglaze, finished with a light green drip glaze that irregularly spreads over the rim and walls, giving the object a lively and artistic character.
Below is the typical butterfly motif, which is attributed as a recognition sign to Louis Gueule, active in the first half of the 20th century. The combination of form, color gradient, and glazing technique is characteristic of the French art-pottery tradition from this period, with influences from Art Deco and post-Art Nouveau ceramics.
