Description from the seller

Longines – Lindbergh Hour Angle – Ref. L2.628.4 / 628.5240 – Enamel Dial – Full Set – Serviced 2025

A superb and highly collectible Longines Lindbergh Hour Angle – the most faithful reissue of the historic 1931 navigation watch designed by Charles A. Lindbergh after his 1927 solo transatlantic flight.

This example features a white enamel dial, blued Breguet apple hands, a champagne inner hour-angle disc, and the famous Weems navigation system for synchronising longitude calculations.

Single-owner piece, originally kept by a jeweller, never polished, and in exceptional condition.
Fully serviced in 2025 by a professional horologist.

Comes as a rare full set: Longines box, signed pouch, booklets, certificate card, and documentation.
Includes an unworn new strap with the original Longines steel ardillon buckle.

>> Historical Importance

The Lindbergh Hour Angle is one of the most iconic timepieces in aviation history. Designed in 1931 in collaboration with Longines and Captain Philip Van Horn Weems, it allowed pilots to calculate their longitude mid-flight using celestial navigation — a revolutionary innovation in early aviation.

Longines was the official timekeeper for the FAI and supplied instruments to nearly every major air pioneer: Amelia Earhart, Howard Hughes, Elinor Smith, Wiley Post, Paul-Émile Victor, and of course Charles Lindbergh.

This reference celebrates the 60th anniversary of Lindbergh’s Atlantic crossing and remains the closest visual and functional match to the original 1931 model.

>> Collector Appreciation

Collectors value this reference because it is:
- the most authentic modern recreation (correct 38 mm, enamel dial, champagne inner ring)
- equipped with original Breguet pomme hands and fluted bezel
- never polished, retaining sharp factory lines
- single-owner, rare for this reference
- freshly serviced and mechanically perfect
- complete with all original accessories, increasing both rarity and future value

The pristine enamel dial, untouched case, and original crown/buckle make it a genuinely investment-grade example.

>>Market Position

Early Lindbergh reissues in full-set condition have become increasingly hard to find.

Based on recent European sales:
Typical examples: €1,200 – €1,600
Full sets in excellent condition: €1,600 – €2,000

Single-owner, unpolished, pristine enamel dial examples: €2,000+ potential.
This watch sits at the top of the market segment due to condition, provenance, and completeness.
