William Shakespeare - Hamlet - London, John Bell, 1806 - 148 + 200 pages annotations - full leather binding - 14.5 x 9.5 cm
bound with
William Shakespeare - Titus Andronicus - London, John Bell, 1809 - 102 + 24 pages annotations
published as:
The Dramatic Writings of William Shakespeare. Volume Eighteen Containing Hamlet / Titus Andronicus
Reasonable
See the photos. Bound in the original full leather binding. The front hinge is torn but still holds. Sometimes there is discoloration on the pages. Well bound. Contains a bookstore label. Complete with engravings.
The years of issue in the book are strange. The publication date of the book is before the individual titles were published, and annotations and commentaries are written before, which of course is not possible.
This, however, is just a fact. This Shakespeare edition by Bell is a bibliographic puzzle. It is known as Bell's nightmare edition :-) because it is a drama to try to understand the exact date of the book.
