Flux sculpture by Jan Paul, 2024, hand‑made organic sculpture in stainless steel, signed, prototype edition of 8, dimensions 94 cm wide × 84 cm high × 15.5 cm deep, weight 18 kg, made in the Netherlands.
Description from the seller
FLUXsculpture
Organic sculpture in stainless steel
The four stainless steel legs flow and meander into each other.
An iconic, powerful, standing dynamic form that presents different appearances from different angles. The polished stainless steel finish reflects and plays with light.
Limited edition of 8 pieces.
Material: flexible stainless steel tubes / PET
FLUX
Numerous experiments with materials and forms resulted in a new form and material language called "Flux".
Flexible steel tubes are hand-shaped and mounted on a base construction.
Each item is handmade, making every object a unique piece.
The form is hand-formed and bound by the flexible properties and the radius of the material.
The "Flux" series consists of organic and dynamic objects inspired by nature.
The way plants, trees, organisms and rivers meander, grow and flow.
Seemingly random and chaotic, yet following a certain path.
BIO:
JAN PAUL (Jan-Paul Meulendijks, Netherlands 1972)
Gentle Brutalist
Functional art / Dysfunctional design
The work of JAN PAUL transcends the boundaries between design and art.
Each new piece contributes and is part of the story.
Conceptual, autonomous and experimental. Free from boxes, borders or requirements.
"I want to create without compromises and to explore and crystallize fully the ideas I have. One idea becomes a precisely designed table, another a sculptural object without a specific function.
Recurring themes and line of thought are: the beauty of multiplicity, the wonder hidden in everyday objects, the reinterpretation of icons, exploring the boundaries of new materials, creating the new from the existing."
The collection consists of objects, art and functional art, made in small series, limited editions and unique pieces. Organically growing and carefully selected.
The small and exclusive collection is produced in the Netherlands.
All work is available directly for sale via the website and through selected platforms, galleries and fairs.
