At first glance, it is a harmonious and complex intertwining, a skillfully orchestrated competition of leather and metal, of balls and circles, a rosette inscribed within a square… and then the eye tires and discerns each element whose repetition rhythmically patterns this movement that soothes as much as it intrigues. We feel the urge to follow this mysterious network with our finger, with no beginning and no end. Spurs, stirrups, bridle hardware, and three gold-rolled whips: the harness of the riders from the black frame of Saumur, a prestigious French riding school founded in the 19th century, traces its curves and lines.
