Description from the seller
A set of 61-piece Silver-Plated Cutlery Service by André Caplan, Paris – Art Deco Elegance – Original Canteen
Table service for 12 – Superb French craftsmanship – Mid-20th century
An elegant and complete 61-piece silver-plated cutlery service by the Parisian silversmith André Caplan, renowned for his refined Art Deco and early modernist flatware.
This luxurious set, preserved in its original fitted case, reflects the sophistication of mid-20th century French table culture.
Caplan’s distinctive hallmark — AC beneath a harp, struck inside a lozenge — certifies authentic French production and high-quality silverplating. The harp emblem was traditionally used in France for premium plated flatware, distinguishing superior tableware from industrial mass production.
Design
The pattern is a subtle and timeless interpretation of late Art Deco, characterised by:
Architectural lines and stepped borders
Stylised fan details at the terminal
A harmonious and balanced silhouette
This is a versatile service that elevates both a classic and a contemporary table setting.
Composition (61 pieces)
12 table forks – 19.5 cm
12 table spoons – 20 cm
12 table knives – 23.5 cm not silverplated , different pattern
12 coffee spoons – 13.5 cm
(one spoon in a different but compatible model)
1 large soup/serving ladle – 31 cm
Original fitted storage case
