The optimism nudges me forward into an adventure of creativity, where achievements are avoided as much as possible. I usually start from nothing. Then I dig into my past, with an old-timer, bicycle, or children's drawing at the center. Through processing, I try to divert my attention away from myself.
Ad Verstijnen's paintings are characterized by many colors and are often inspired by children's drawings. The paintings are extremely popular in the Netherlands.
