A charming patinated bronze vase of rectangular form with gently arched sides, decorated with an intricate wood-grain pattern in low relief. It is surmounted by a delicate sparrow 雀 (suzume), modelled in light and dark brown tones with soft gold highlights. At the lower corner a small ground shrub is rendered in matching detail. Signed on the bottom Masamitsu (Seikô) 正光. Period: Japan- Meiji period, around 1900 Dimensions: Height 22.9 cm, Width 12.3 cm, Depth 12.6 cm Weight: 1757 g In a very good condition with minimal traces of wear consistent with age.
