This large ruby (corundum) crystal comes from Mauritania, (Tiris Zemmour region), about 100 km from the city of Zouerate.
I found this ruby during research and exploration in the Mauritanian desert.
I propose it as I found it; I haven't done any thermal or chemical treatment, just a cleaning with soapy water.
All photos are taken in natural daylight.
For some of them, I placed the ruby on the flashlight of my mobile phone turned on.
To demonstrate the strong fluorescence characteristic of corundum (ruby and sapphire) under ultraviolet light, I also illuminated this ruby with a small lamp that emits ultraviolet light.
I photographed this gem as sincerely and precisely as possible using daylight.
