Biography
Pierre Ambrogiani was a French painter born in 1907 in Ajaccio and died in 1985 in Allauch. He came from a modest family that settled in the old working-class neighborhood of Marseille. From 1920, he was employed first at Marseille-Colbert as a postman, then as a postal worker from 1928 to 1950 at the Marseille post office. In 1936, helped by his friends André Malraux and Louis Aragon, he was one of the founders of the first provincial cultural center along with his Marseille painter friends Antoine Serra, Louis Toncini, and François Diana. Pierre Ambrogiani was also friends with Marcel Pagnol and Jean Giono, whom he met near his studio at Vieux Port. In an expressionist style, he is renowned for his wild and violent color palette. He painted Provençal landscapes and still lifes and also engraved numerous plates to illustrate works. In 1962, he decorated the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Marseille with frescoes and stained glass windows. A prolific artist, his works include more than fifteen hundred paintings, seven sculptures, twelve hundred drawings and watercolors, and three hundred prints sold at public auctions.

In good preservation condition, with signs related to age and time. The work shows no restorations or tampering with the pictorial pigment. The work will be shipped with protective glass.
