Erich Büttner (1889-1936)
"Blau-Gold Berlín".
Etching, May 1912.
Signed in pencil by Büttner.
Also with monogram, title, and date on the plate.
Sheet size: 23.5 x 29 cm
Mounted on a passe-partout with a gilt wood frame and glass. 31.5 x 26.5 cm
The German Expressionist painter Erich Büttner was a member of the Berlin Secession in 1908. Büttner's work is appreciated for the dynamic forms characteristic of Expressionism. In the 1920s, he created a series of portraits of his friends and colleagues of the time, including Lovis Corinth, George Grosz, Arno Holz, and Heinrich Zille.
