Description from the seller
WONDERFUL PHOTOBOOK by Lithuanian photographer Antanas Sutkus, the "Henri Cartier-Bresson of the east" - in BRANDNEW CONDITION.
"Antanas Sutkus has one favourite subject in particular, which this book explores in depth: children and their world. Sutkus returns to them time and again to show the different facets of children's lives and how these influence the adult world. ‘For me as a photographer, childhood is the most important stage,’ Sutkus once said, "Children live in a different world. Sometimes I have succeeded in showing this world: not the real world we are used to, but their world. Children do not live on Earth, but on another planet."
At eye level, respectfully yet precisely, Sutkus shows the children of this world: together with their parents and relatives, with friends, or playing or learning at school. He captures the beautiful aspects as well as the hardships of childhood, the difficulties of growing up, loneliness and solidarity, as well as those inevitable crises of childhood that may shape adult life forever. For Sutkus, children do not live in paradise, but in another universe – a phase of life that connects people beyond their national and cultural boundaries."
