Namji vruchtbaarheidspop uit Kameroen.

De Namji zijn een animistische bevolkingsgroep. Het is een bergvolk dat leeft in het noorden van Kameroen.

Poppen als deze werden gegeven aan jonge meisjes. Ze werden als een echt kindje gedragen op de rug in een draagdoek. Er werd mee gespeeld, tegen gesproken, ze werden zogenaamd gevoed en verzorgd. Dit alles om een goede vruchtbaarheid voor het meisje te garanderen en om het meisje vast voor te bereiden om haar toekomstige rol als moeder.

Ook werden deze poppen in sommige gevallen gemaakt door jonge mannen om aan hun verloofde te geven. Ook dit met als doel een goede vruchtbaarheid te bewerkstelligen.

Namji poppen staan bekend om hun kleurrijke versieringen. Zo is ook deze houten pop rijkelijk versierd met gekleurde glaskralen en lederen tasjes (kitabs) met een boodschap en kaurischelpjes.

De pop staat op zichzelf. Wordt zorgvuldig verpakt en verzonden met een track and trace code.
