Description from the seller

Refined travel sewing kit in an inlaid wooden case with silver-plated metal accessories – 19th century

Description
Elegant 19th-century travel sewing set, complete with its original accessories and stored in a dark wooden case of slightly trapezoidal rectangular shape.
The case is externally decorated with a refined floral inlay in light wood, in a neoclassical style, and finished along the edges with thin fillets. The interior is lined with brick-colored velvet, with custom-shaped silhouettes for each element, and the lid is covered in light fabric with original passementerie.
The set includes:
Steel sewing scissors with a patina consistent with the period.
Metal detail (probably brass or a silver-colored alloy).
Needle / awl or punch with decorated handle.
Finely crafted cylindrical needle holder
Metal sewing shuttle
Needle in bone or vegetable ivory (natural, non-tested material)
The metallic elements feature a decorative relief work, compatible with European productions from the second half of the 19th century. No readable stamps are visible; therefore, the accessories are considered to be silver-plated metal or decorative alloy, not solid silver.
A collectible item, typical of women's travel toiletry kits, now highly valued for its artisanal quality, completeness, and historical charm.

Technical specifications
Type: sewing kit/toiletry bag
Materials: inlaid wood, silvered metal or alloy, steel, fabric, velvet.
Decoration: external floral inlay, raised decorated accessories.
Closure: metallic button
Period: circa 19th century
Measurements: 13x7x2.5 cm; total weight 75 g.

Conditions: Good overall condition, consistent with age: normal signs of wear and patina on metallic elements. Original internal fabrics with stains and signs of aging, without significant tears. Structurally solid case, functioning zippers. Complete set as shown in the photographs.
Please observe carefully the images, which are an integral part of the description.

Curiosity
I set sewing cases of this type, which were often made for upper-class women or aristocrats, intended for travel or stays away from home. The presence of custom-shaped cases indicates a quality production, not mass-produced.

Shipping
Accurate shipping with professional packaging.
