Grote en fijn uitgevoerde Chinese cloisonné schaal, vervaardigd op een handgeslagen koperen basis en rijk gedecoreerd met twee feniksen (fenghuang), omgeven door florale motieven en sierlijke ranken.
Ze maakten in Beijjing stukken voor hof, elite en export naar Europa


De feniks is in de Chinese cultuur een belangrijk gelukssymbool, geassocieerd met harmonie, voorspoed en hoge status. De dichte turquoise ondergrond, de fijn aangebrachte metaaldraadjes (cloisons) en de diep gebakken emailkleuren wijzen op hoogwaardig handwerk, kenmerkend voor cloisonné uit de late Qing-dynastie tot vroege Republiek (circa 1890–1910).

De decoratie is goed bewaard gebleven en visueel sterk.
Er is lichte emailslijtage aanwezig aan delen van de binnenrand, zichtbaar bij nadere inspectie en zie foto's 
Deze slijtage is passend bij de leeftijd en het gebruik van het object en heeft geen invloed op de constructieve staat of de algehele uitstraling. Geen restauraties waargenomen.

De onderzijde toont een natuurlijk gepatineerd, handgeslagen koperoppervlak, wat de ouderdom en authenticiteit ondersteunt.
