ART NOUVEAU FENCE FROM THE AMSTERDAM CONCERT HALL
This Art Nouveau fence was in the Amsterdam Concert hall. The pins at the bottom of the legs show that the fence was anchored in the foundation and was already in it from 1886. The banister is bronze/brass and has a metal U-profile. Whoever made the fence on behalf of the concert hall is unknown but could easily be found out with research.
The dimensions are: from feet to handrail 90 cm high. From the bottom of the anchor pens to the handrail 116 cm high. The width is 119 cm without curls and the width is 140 cm with curls.
During the construction of the modern east wing in 1988, this fence was placed on the street as garbage from the depot at Amsterdam Groenstraat. I took this beautiful fence in. The valuation was recently done in consultation with Evert Greefkes of the former smithery Aesthetica at the Weteringschans in Amsterdam.
