Beautiful sculpture, placed on a granite base, of a boy with clogs and empty pockets.

Terracotta statue signed on the back on the right leg: Ernest Patris

Pretty green patina. 

Dimensions:
Height: 19 cm (including 4cm granite base)
Base: 8 x 6 cm

Patris (Beuzet 1909- Nattoye 1981) expressionist painter, ceramicist and sculptor.

Self-taught, graduated as a draughtsman-modeler at the age of 18, he discovered clay work on his own.
Created his first terracotta works (1930) and took courses in bronze foundry (Gilly) and anatomy (Ghent). 

In 1937, encouraged by his friend James Ensor, he devoted himself solely to sculpture, setting up a ceramic workshop in Marchienne-au-Pont (1952) and a bronze foundry (1955). 
Became a gallery owner in Ostend (1959) and designed public monuments (La Hulpe, Courcelles, Marcinelle, Monceau-sur -Sambre....).
