'Oriental Poppy' a leaded glass and patinated bronze Floor lamp. A rare masterpiece designed by Clara Driscoll for Tiffany Studios. The shade and base were described in the Price List published by the Tiffany Studios in 1906 as follows: Shade: Model #1902, 26 in. Oriental Poppy, dome Base; Model #376, Piano, floor, large, chased pod Its date of manufacture was between 1900-1913 Shade stamped: Tiffany Studios New York 1902 Base stamped: Tiffany Studios New York 376 Height 198 cm Diamater shade 66 cm Literature: Alastair Duncan, Tiffany Lamps and Metalware, Woodbridge, Suffolk, 2019, pp. 226, no. 881 (for the shade) and 228, no. 890 (for the base) William Feldstein, Jr. and Alastair Duncan, The Lamps of Tiffany Studios, New York, 1983, pp. 18-19 and 52-53 (for the shade) This lamp has been physically inspected by Marleen Deiters (Catawiki Senior expert Art Nouveau & Art Deco) and during this inspection she consulted Mr. Alastair Duncan (author of several Tiffany books and leading expert in the subject). Condition: - Only a few acceptable cracks in the glass and some light scratches on the base. - No signs of restorations. - The light fittings have been replaced but the original fittings are still present. Provenance: - This lamp comes from an important private collection in New York which purchased a lot of 7 original Tiffany studio lamps in the 1950s. - The lot was subsequently purchased by an important European antiques dealer. - Purchased by the current owner in the 1980s.
