--- Introduction ---
The Rado DiaStar occupies a unique place in horological history as the world's first scratchproof watch, introduced in 1962. This vintage gentleman's example from the 1970s exemplifies the bold, futuristic design language of the era: a distinctive cushion-shaped hardmetal case with the characteristic satin-matte surface, housing an automatic movement with a convenient day-date complication. The dark charcoal-grey dial — with luminous applied bar indices, gold-tone hands, and Rado's iconic red-tipped sweep seconds — displays both the day (in English) and date through dual apertures at 6 o'clock. Presented on its original stainless steel integrated bracelet, this DiaStar is a compelling piece of 1970s watch design.
