2004 - 2005 - 2006 - 2007 - 2008 Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr - Moezel Auslese - 5 Magnums (1.5L)

FIVE LEGENDARY VINTAGES IN MAGNUM – A COLLECTOR’S DREAM - NO RESERVE PRICE – The Connoisseur’s Choice Collection - 5 Magnums of Mosel Excellence – Signed by the Winemaker. Vintages 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008. Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese. A RARE VERTICAL OF MOSEL MASTERY This is an extraordinary opportunity to acquire five magnums from one of Germany’s most iconic estates. Founded in 1605, Fritz Haag is celebrated for the Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr, a VDP.GROSSE LAGE whose steep, south-facing slate slopes yield Rieslings of exceptional finesse, purity, and longevity. The village changed its name from Dusemond to Brauneberg in 1925 to honor the global reputation of these vineyards, praised since Napoleonic times as pearls of the Mosel. THE SITE AND ITS TERROIR Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr is the choicest center cut of the Brauneberg hillside, surrounding the historic sundial. Slopes reach up to 87 percent gradient and face due south, concentrating sunlight and warmth in a cool-climate zone. Soils are thin, blue-gray Devonian slate with iron-rich elements that impart precise minerality and saline tension. A Roman wine press at the foot of the slope testifies to two millennia of viticulture here. The result is a naturally low-yielding, handworked site producing wines with crystalline fruit, lift, and remarkable aging potential. WILHELM AND OLIVER HAAG Wilhelm Haag led the estate for decades and was named German Winemaker of the Year by Gault Millau in 1994. His guiding principle was simple: “Quality is the only path to reach one’s goals.” In 2005, his son Oliver Haag assumed leadership, preserving the classic style while introducing modern precision and sustainability. Oliver says: “Each year, Brauneberger Juffer and Juffer Sonnenuhr yield great Rieslings that are inimitable throughout the world.” He adds: “First and foremost, a good wine is made in the vineyard. That is why we put so much effort into the care of our steep slate slopes and into selective manual harvest. Our goal is delicate, fruity, elegant wines with slate character and great potential for the future.” PROVENANCE AND CONDITION Impeccable provenance. These magnums were shipped directly from the Fritz Haag estate to our OHMS Connoisseurs Choice professional cellar and have been stored undisturbed in climate-controlled conditions. Labels almost pristine, capsules fairly intact, fill levels high. Authenticity and integrity guaranteed. THE VINTAGES – SCORES, TASTING NOTES AND AGING POTENTIAL 2004 Score: approximately 91.7 points Tasting note: Bright and creamy with vibrant acidity, stone fruit over fine slate, hints of honey and citrus. Elegant and energetic. Drinking window: At peak now, with further development through 2035 in magnum. 2005 Score: approximately 92 points Tasting note: Generous orchard and stone fruit, quince and blossom, plush yet poised sweet-acid balance, cool herbal nuance typical of Sonnenuhr. Drinking window: Excellent now, evolving toward dried apricot and spice through 2040 in magnum. 2006 Score: approximately 92 points Tasting note: Lusher, botrytis-marked profile, honey, ripe peach and tropical hints over slate, creamy texture with softer acidity. Drinking window: Fully open and harmonious now, best through 2035 in magnum. 2007 Score: approximately 90.7 points (recent review 96 points) Tasting note: Focused citrus and stone fruit with honeyed depth, lively acidity, long mineral finish, excellent tension and balance. Drinking window: Superb now, further evolution expected through 2045 in magnum. 2008 Score: 94 points Wine Spectator, 95 points Lobenberg Tasting note: Pure and finely etched, peach, apple, lime and slate carried by vibrant structure, salty minerality and elegant spice, long silky finish. Drinking window: Beginning to show its brilliance now, ideal through 2048 in magnum. WHY THIS COLLECTION MATTERS Vertical magnums of Auslese from a single VDP.GROSSE LAGE almost never reach the open market with guaranteed estate-to-cellar provenance. Large formats age more slowly and gracefully, preserving freshness and building complexity over decades. The combination of a historic estate, a legendary site, five strong vintages of the 2000s and impeccable storage confers lasting desirability to collectors and investors. SHIPPING AND PRESENTATION Insured, professional packing. Each magnum wrapped in OHMS protective paper. EU: DPD Rest of Europe: EMS Overseas: EMS or DHL All bottles, labels and levels match or exceed the quality shown in photos. Shipments are fully insured for your peace of mind. This is more than wine. It is a living piece of Mosel history and an invitation to join the select circle of connoisseurs who prize the world’s finest Riesling. Bid with confidence.
