The icon of the Mother of God "Life-Giving Spring" depicts the Mother of God with the Child over a well or cup, symbolizing Her as the Source of life and grace, through whom Christ came.The icon's feast day is celebrated on Friday of Bright Week (Easter week) and is associated with the miraculous healing of a blind man that occurred in Constantinople, where a church was built over a spring. People pray before the icon for the healing of physical and mental ailments, for help in times of sorrow and infirmity, and on the feast day, prayers are held for the blessing of water.
