¶ 'De 8 en Opbouw' was the most significant avant-garde periodical of united Dutch architects from the major cities Amsterdam and Rotterdam in the 1930's. 'De 8' was the mouthpiece for the New Objectivity movement in architecture. It focussed on architecture, interior design, various applied arts, criticism and other related subjects. Collaborators were, a.o.: Paul Schuitema, who also designed many of the striking covers and lay-outs for many of the issues, the photographer and designer Piet Zwart, as well as many other architects and designers of iconic buildings and designs of the pre-war era
