Gothic Revival Bronze Reliquary / Relic Box (circa 1900–1910) Rare and highly decorative antique reliquary or relic box, executed in solid bronze and designed in a powerful Gothic Revival style, dating circa 1900–1910. This heavy rectangular casket features a hinged lid and is richly decorated on all sides with finely modelled bas-relief panels depicting medieval and religious figures set within architectural Gothic arches. The composition reflects the late phase of the Gothic Revival movement, when craftsmanship and historicist ornamentation were once again highly appreciated around the turn of the century. The piece has a strong sculptural presence and excellent casting depth. The bronze has been professionally polished and waxed, preserving the authentic aged patina while enhancing the warm, noble tone of the metal. The relief decoration remains crisp and expressive, with beautiful depth and shadow play.
