Antico Pugnale Berbero "Koummya" (Koummiya / Jambiya) - Marocco - seconda metà del XX Secolo - Decorativo
Descrizione:

Vintage Moroccan Berber "Koummya" Dagger (Koummiya / Jambiya) - Mid-20th Century - Decorative
Description:
Up for auction is a fascinating and highly decorative traditional Moroccan "Koummya" dagger, dating back to the second half of the 20th century.
This piece beautifully showcases the traditional craftsmanship of the Atlas Berber tribes. It features the iconic "peacock-tail" hilt and a richly detailed scabbard ending in the classic sharp upturned curve. The front is entirely hand-chased with intricate geometric patterns and raised pyramidal studs, while the back displays a smooth metal finish with a gorgeous, warm aged patina. It comes complete with its two original lateral suspension rings, which were traditionally used to attach it to a coloured woollen shoulder cord.
Technical Details & Condition:
Dimensions: Total length of the piece (sheathed): 40 cm.
Material: Crafted from a traditional metal alloy (such as alpaca / white brass); it does not bear silver hallmarks. The back of the scabbard reveals the beautiful warm undertones of the base metal that have emerged over time.
Blade: Decorative iron blade, unsharpened, firmly set into the hilt. It shows an authentic vintage patina with minor surface oxidation that highlights its age.
Overall Condition: Very good aesthetic condition, structurally sound, and 100% original.
A stunning display piece and an excellent addition for collectors of ethnic edged weapons, Oriental militaria, and Islamic/North African art. The lot will be carefully packed and shipped with full tracking.
