Beautiful and rare antique solid brass wall-mounted tap, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century (approx. 1890 - 1910).

​This piece is a wonderful example of historical plumbing craftsmanship. It is a classic conical plug valve tap (tapered plug cock). Instead of using a rubber washer like later models, this tap relies on a precision-ground solid brass cylinder (plug) that rotates inside the body to open or close the water flow with a simple quarter turn.

This tap was used on a farm.
