Beschrijving van de verkoper
Product Description
This item is a cast iron lantern (ornamental figurine) made using "Nanbu Tekki" (Southern Nambu Ironware), a traditional craft passed down in the southern Iwate Prefecture region. It is shaped as a miniature tower-style lantern, featuring a textured curved roof and a spherical decorative finial with a hanging ring. It can be displayed either suspended or placed on a tabletop.
All four sides of the lantern body are adorned with openwork carvings depicting bamboo and plum blossom motifs, with a pale-coloured panel fitted inside, evoking the atmosphere of a traditional andon (Japanese oil lamp) rendered in cast iron. The base features a tiered form, designed to recreate a stone lantern in miniature cast metal.
The entire piece has a matte black finish, and the characteristic granular texture of Nanbu Tekki's sand-m mould casting is visible on the roof and base.
