Mr. Bela F. Horvath bought the stool in Shanghai circa 1949.
Mrs. Nicole Pol-Horvath, Paris, inherited from her father-in-law Mr. Bela F. Horvath in 2000.
Mr. Bela F. Horvath, as a young diplomat he was assigned to China just after the 2nd World war.
In the late 1940’s he bought many pieces of furniture in China. Those pieces were bought in Shanghai circa 1949.
He moved them out of China in the early 1950’s when he was assigned to North Korea. Then in the early 1960’s they were shipped to Hungary, where they remained until 2000, when she inherited that furniture. Among the furniture is the present lot.
