Yatate 矢立 Portable Calligraphy Tool - Inktpot (3) - Staal

This is a set of three traditional Japanese yatate (矢立), a type of portable writing instrument historically used by samurai, merchants, and travelers during the Edo period. Each piece in this set displays distinct craftsmanship and character, combining utility with cultural heritage. The middle yatate, created by the artisan Kouhei (康平), features the prestigious Tokugawa clan crest (葵紋) finely inlaid in gold on the ink pot cap — a mark of status and historical value.
