Buttercup is a unique vessel crafted by Atelier Colby, a shallow bowl with an undulating rim, reminiscent of a flower.
The bowl has been wet molded in 3mm natural vegetable tanned leather from Tuscany and saddle stitched by hand with waxed polycotton thread for strength and longevity, before being trimmed, sanded, burnished and waxed.
The leather is tanned using water and natural organic materials like mimosa and chestnut bark. It is one of the most sustainable tanning techniques and creates a leather that responds to its environment over time, developing a distinct patina from where it is placed and how it is handled.
