Macallan Edition No. 6 is the sixth and final edition of the limited Edition series from the renowned Macallan distillery in Speyside, Scotland. Released in 2020, this whiskey celebrates the natural beauty of the Spey River, which flows past the distillery and plays a key role in Macallan production. Edition No. 6 is a tribute to the environment and heritage of the region, combining a rich taste profile with an ecological narrative. Characteristics: • Alcohol: 48.6% ABV, which provides the intensity and complexity of the taste. • Ripening: The whiskey is composed of distillates matured in five different types of European and American oak barrels, including: • First and second filling of the sherry barrel (butts and hogsheads) made of European oak. • The first filling of the American oak sherry barrel. • Refill sherry hogsheads. • The first filling of the American oak bourbon barrel. The selection of barrels, supervised by Master Whiskey Maker Steven Bremner, was intended to create a rich, fruity profile, repasing the character of the Spey Valley. • Color: Natural, deep amber with shades of mahogany, resulting only from the influence of barrels, without the addition of dyes. Taste profile: • Aroma: Rich and fruity, with dominant notes of dried fruits (raisins, figs, dates), toffee and dark chocolate. Accents of orange peel, fresh apples, nutmeg and delicate spice (cinnamon, ginger) are perceptible, with a subtle oak note in the background. • Taste: Full and balanced, with a creamy texture and sweet notes of caramel, honey and prunes. There are accents of dark chocolate, walnuts, spices (cloves, pepper) and delicate citrus freshness. The taste is intense but harmonious, with a clear influence of sherry. • Finish: Long, warm and complex, with notes of dried fruit, dark chocolate, oak wood and subtle tannin dryness. The finish leaves a pleasant, warming impression with a slight spice.
