A beautifully composed mid-20th-century landscape, attributed to the circle of Nikolai Timkov (1912–1993) one of the celebrated masters of the Leningrad School of Painting.
This serene rural view captures the essence of Russian countryside life, with its vibrant greens, purple treelines, and the calm light of a summer’s day. The artist demonstrates a confident, painterly brushstroke and a deep understanding of colour harmony and atmosphere hallmarks of Soviet impressionism.
The composition is full of movement, leading the viewer’s eye along the winding path into the distance, while soft clouds float over the horizon. The work embodies both realism and poetry qualities for which Timkov and his circle are well known.
