Ashanti (Asante) Gold Powder Box with Bird Figures on the Lid – Bronze – Ghana
An elegant and authentic Ashanti gold powder box from Ghana, traditionally used for storing gold powder, which served as currency in the Ashanti Kingdom before the introduction of coins.
The box is cast in bronze and features a removable lid decorated with several small bird figures in relief. In Ashanti culture, birds symbolize communication, vigilance, and spiritual authority, often referring to proverbs and social values. Figurative lids like this are particularly prized by collectors.
