Japanische Studiokeramik-Teeschale (Chawan), hellgrüne Celadon-Glasur, mit originalem - Steinzeug, Keramik - Japan - Shōwa Zeit (1926-1989)
This is a Japanese studio pottery tea bowl (chawan), featuring a softly textured pale celadon glaze with natural crackle and subtle kiln variations.
The bowl displays a well-balanced, hand-thrown form with gentle irregularities, characteristic of mid-20th century Japanese studio ceramics influenced by the mingei movement. The glaze pools naturally in recesses and thins at the rim and foot, revealing the underlying clay body and firing marks.
The foot is carefully shaped and shows clear evidence of traditional wheel throwing and kiln firing. No visible restoration is observed. Minor surface variations and firing marks are consistent with age and hand-crafted production.
The piece is accompanied by its original wooden storage box (tomobako) with handwritten Japanese inscription, indicating its intended use as a tea bowl. Such boxes are traditionally provided for tea wares and add to the historical and cultural context of the piece.
This chawan was made for use in Japanese tea practice, where understated form, tactile surface, and natural glaze effects are highly valued. It represents a refined example of Japanese studio pottery rather than mass-produced ware.
A well-suited piece for collectors of Japanese ceramics, tea ceremony utensils, or mingei-inspired studio works.
