Ancient Egypt, glazed faience White Crown amulet, also called hedjet (White One) or wrt (weret).
Tall conical shape with bulbous top and carefully delineated ear-flaps, complete with a side loop for suspension.
The White Crown of pharaonic Upper Egypt was worn only by the Pharaoh and certain deities. After the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt it was combined with the Red Crown (Deshret) to from the double crown of Egypt (Pschent).
Amulets in this shape were worn or placed on mummies to imbue the aura of power and authority from the Pharaoh or deities.
Length: ± 29 mm
Condition: very fine condition, appealing glazing, some signs of wear consistent with age and use. See images.
