Koyo-gama (光燿窯) - Mitsuaki Kato (加藤光昭) - Teeschale - Ton, Steinzeug - Seto-Keramik

Exquisite Irabo Chawan (Tea Ceremony Bowl) by Mitsuaki Kato (Koyo-gama) This is a high-quality "Irabo" style tea bowl, masterfully crafted by Mitsuaki Kato (加藤光昭) at his Koyo-gama (光燿窯) kiln in Seto, Aichi Prefecture—one of Japan’s most prestigious and historic ceramic centers. The Artist and Provenance: Mitsuaki Kato is a distinguished ceramic artist based in Seto (Izumi-machi 28). He is highly regarded for his deep understanding of traditional tea pottery, particularly his ability to recreate the rustic and spiritual essence of the "Irabo" style. This piece features the artist’s signature on the wooden box and his distinctive "Mitsu" (光) seal impressed near the foot (kodai) of the bowl. Aesthetic Features: The bowl embodies the "Wabi-sabi" aesthetic with its characteristic sandy texture and dynamic yellowish-brown "Irabo" glaze. The highlight of this piece is the "Keshiki" (scenery) on the front, where the glaze flows naturally, creating beautiful drips that contrast with the rich, exposed clay. The powerful carving of the foot (kodai) demonstrates the artist’s exceptional skill and confident touch. Product Specifications: Tea Bowl (Chawan): Height: 7.5 cm Diameter: 11.5 cm Foot Diameter (Kodai): 6.5 cm Weight: 310 g Original Wooden Box (Tomobako): Dimensions: 14.5 cm (L) × 14.5 cm (W) × 11.0 cm (H) Total Weight (with Bowl): 530 g Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Please refer to the high-resolution photos for details. Shipping method: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by DHL, FedEx or Postal parcels depend on the situation. It takes about 3-4 weeks to receive normally. Koto (original wooden box) is essential for the provenance and will be protected with the utmost care. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Sometimes Customs or delivery company in your country contact you for Customs clearance via phone or email. Please make sure that you could answer the phone. If you don't, the parcel will return to me and it cost more double shipping fee for reshipping. I appreciate your cooperation.
