Laternenvase - Porzellan - Longquan celadon - China - Ming Dynastie (1368 - 1644)

Yuan/Ming Dynasty Longquan Celadon “Lantern” Vase China, 14th–15th century A finely potted Longquan celadon vase of lantern form, dating to the Yuan–Ming period. The body rises from a narrow foot with incised vertical line to a oval body with softly rounded shoulders to a short, slightly flared neck and is covered overall with a thick, lustrous pale green celadon glaze, characteristic of Longquan wares. Beneath the glaze, are carved hatched lines whiche are revealed through areas of thinning and shading in the glaze pool. Longquan celadon was prized for its jade-like surface and subtle tonal variation, evoking the esteemed qualities of ancient jade and bridging the artistic traditions of both the Song and later Ming periods. Such wares were widely appreciated at court and by literati, and they were exported throughout East and Southeast Asia. Comparable forms and glaze quality can be found in important sale records and museum collections; similar Yuan/Ming Longquan examples have been offered by leading international auction houses: REFERENCE: A similar vase sold at Bonhams (AU$ 1,464/EUR 875): https://www.bonhams.com/auction/22857/lot/229/a-carved-chinese-longquan-celadon-glaze-vase-yuan-ming-dynasty/ A cruder example at Christie's (USD 750) https://www.christies.com/lot/a-chinese-small-longquan-celadon-vase-ming-5973180/?intObjectID=5973180&lid=1 Condition (UV-checked): Very good condition, no damage.
