This large coal scuttle features the characteristic high pouring lip designed for practical coal handling at the fireplace. The front is decorated with a finely cast lion mask appliqué, a typical historicist decorative element of the Victorian period. The piece retains its original wooden carrying handles as well as a ceramic lower handle with blue decoration. The construction shows traditional hand-worked metal techniques with a folded rear seam, confirming authentic 19th-century manufacture.
