Altgriechisch, hellenistisch Bronze Pfeilspitze (Ohne mindestpreis)

Lot of Two – Large Ancient Bronze Arrowheads – Greek Influence / Luristan – c. 800–400 BC – Impressive 99 mm Examples Description: A superb lot of two impressive ancient bronze arrowheads, dating to approximately 800–400 BC, a period associated with the Greek Archaic to Classical era and culturally connected to the Luristan region (Western Iran) – a centre celebrated for its exceptional production of bronze weaponry. Each arrowhead measures approximately 99 mm in length and represents a substantial and visually striking example of ancient military craftsmanship. These socketed arrowheads with defined midribs are typical of weaponry used across territories under Greek military influence, particularly in Asia Minor and the Near Eastern frontier, where Hellenic and Luristan cultural traditions overlapped due to trade, warfare, and shared metallurgical practices. Luristan artisans are renowned for their mastery in creating robust yet elegant bronze arms, and arrowheads of this form belong to that broader Bronze Age–Iron Age tradition. Such pieces would once have been used by archers in phalanx formations or mounted warriors during campaign – making these objects genuine relics of ancient conflict. Both examples exhibit a beautiful natural green patina acquired through centuries of burial, enhancing their authenticity and aesthetic value. Their sleek tapered blades, sharp outlines, and long tangs demonstrate expert casting and shaping. Culture: Greek Influence / Luristan – Eastern Mediterranean / Near East Period: Archaic–Classical Greek World, c. 800–400 BC Material: Bronze Size: approx. 99 mm each Combined Weight: approx. 40 g Origin: Eastern Mediterranean / Near East (Luristan cultural sphere) Provenance: From a private UK collection (pre–2000 acquisition – information available to the winning bidder) Condition: Excellent ancient condition for both pieces with desirable patinas. Minor expected age-related surface wear. No restoration. Lot is supplied with a protective display case for safe storage and presentation. A fantastic opportunity to acquire two museum-grade examples – ideal for collectors of Greek artefacts, Luristan bronzes, ancient military items, and classical history. Will be securely packaged, shipped with certificate of authenticity, and includes a protective display case. (A8)
