Vase - Keramik - Elegante japanische Keramik

This is a tall and elegant Japanese ceramic vase from Aizu Ryūmon-yaki (会津竜紋焼), featuring a striking black, white, and blue dripping glaze design. The form is beautifully proportioned, with a rounded lower body rising into a long, slender neck and slightly flared rim. The silhouette conveys both stability and refinement, making it ideal as a display piece in modern or traditional interiors. The glaze is the most distinctive feature of this work. A deep, dark brown to near-black base is overlaid with a dramatic white glaze that flows downward from the neck, creating natural dripping patterns. Subtle blue tones appear within the white glaze, producing a layered effect reminiscent of melting snow or cascading water. The textured surface and organic transitions in color give each area of the vase unique depth and character. The interior and rim are finished in a glossy dark glaze, providing contrast to the textured exterior. The base shows the typical finishing marks of studio pottery. An original label reading “会津竜紋焼” confirms the kiln or production line. This vase functions beautifully as a flower vase, but also stands alone as a sculptural ceramic object. Artist / Kiln Information – Aizu Ryūmon-yaki (会津竜紋焼): Aizu Ryūmon-yaki is a ceramic tradition from the Aizu region of Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. Aizu has long been known for its samurai culture and refined craftsmanship. Ryūmon-yaki developed as a modern ceramic style incorporating bold glaze techniques and textured surfaces. The name “Ryūmon” (竜紋) refers to “dragon patterns,” symbolizing strength and dynamic movement. Many works emphasize powerful glaze flow and surface expression rather than detailed painted decoration. Production expanded particularly during the late Showa era (昭和後期, 1970s–1980s), when artistic studio ceramics gained popularity both domestically and internationally. Size: Approx. H26 × W10 × D10 cm – 575 g Condition:(Please see the photos) - It is in vintage condition. - Due to aging, there may be some scratches, stains or dirt. - Please note that the actual impression may differ depending on the lighting conditions when taking photos.
