Murano - Stehleuchte - Muranoglas - aus Terra Mid-Century

Nello stile di Carlo Nason for Mazzega, Murano, circa 1970 This five-light example interprets with great balance the Space Age language that characterized Italian lighting design of the period. The composition develops through five cylindrical columns in polished chrome-plated steel, arranged at different heights according to a dynamic vertical rhythm, evoking an abstract skyline of strong scenographic impact. The columns rise from a solid circular base, generous in proportion and perfectly balanced, providing stability and architectural presence to the whole. Each diffuser is made of cased opaline glass, hand-blown in Murano, with a milky white interior enclosed within a transparent outer layer. The surface shows slight air inclusions, typical of Venetian artisanal workmanship. The soft and organic shapes of the globes harmoniously dialogue with the rigorous linearity of the chromed metal structure. When illuminated, the lamp emits a warm and enveloping light, enhancing the material quality of the glass and emphasizing the refined contrast between luminous volumes and metallic verticality. The balance between modularity, geometric purity and the sensuality of the glass material fully recalls the formal research associated with Murano production between the late 1960s and the early 1970s. A piece of great visual presence, ideal as a sculptural element in modernist interiors, minimalist environments, or collections dedicated to 20th-century Italian design. Condition Good vintage condition, with slight signs of time consistent with age. Minor losses to the chrome finish along the edge of the base. Diffusers intact, free from cracks or restorations. Dimensions Height: 158 cm Base diameter: 38 cm Technical Details Country of production: Italy Period: late 1960s Materials: chrome-plated metal, Murano glass Provenance: Private collection. Original period electrical system, functioning at the time of sale. The wiring dates back to the production period of the object; the lamp is sold as a vintage/collectible item and not as electrical equipment compliant with current regulations. Inspection or possible upgrading by a qualified technician is recommended before use. The seller assumes no responsibility for any issues arising from the use of the original electrical system after the sale. Shipping Shipping will be carried out with careful professional packaging and insurance to protect the item. The amount indicated in the Catawiki listing for shipping costs is purely indicative: the actual cost will be calculated based on the buyer’s delivery address. Deliveries are intended curbside; delivery to upper floors is not included. Direct collection in Follina (TV) is possible by prior arrangement. In case of local pickup, the buyer will be reimbursed for the shipping costs indicated in the listing. Any additional transport costs, customs duties, or import charges are the responsibility of the buyer. In good overall condition, with normal signs of wear consistent with age, which do not affect the beauty, functionality, or integrity of the piece. As a vintage item, it may show slight imperfections or minor signs of its long journey through the years, which enhance its character and charm. Over time, it may have undergone small maintenance or conservative restoration interventions. Please carefully review the photographs, which form an integral part of the description.
