Vereinigtes Königreich. Victoria. Florin 1887 PCGS Genuine 92 (Ohne mindestpreis)

A curated certified example of an 1887 Great Britain Florin, Jubilee Head type, struck during the Golden Jubilee year of Queen Victoria and encapsulated by PCGS as “Genuine – Not Gradable.” The holder identifies the coin as “1887 Florin – Great Britain – Jub Head,” certification number 205766.92/17236599, confirming authenticity while noting that the piece did not receive a numeric grade. The obverse features the Jubilee portrait of Queen Victoria facing left, wearing a small crown and veil, with the surrounding legend “VICTORIA DEI GRATIA.” This effigy was introduced in 1887 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Victoria’s accession to the throne and marked a distinct departure from the earlier Young Head design. The portrait displays refined detailing in the crown jewels, veil folds, and drapery, characteristic of late Victorian medallic artistry produced by the Royal Mint in London. The reverse presents the crowned cruciform arrangement of shields representing England, Scotland, and Ireland, separated by scepters meeting at a central Garter star. The surrounding legend reads “FID DEF BRITT REG,” with the date 1887 positioned above. This heraldic composition is emblematic of high Victorian silver coinage and reflects the imperial strength of Great Britain during the late 19th century. The Florin denomination, equal to two shillings, was part of Britain’s gradual move toward decimal-style accounting within the pre-decimal monetary system. Struck in .925 fine silver, the 1887 Jubilee Head Florin belongs to one of the most collected subtypes of Victorian coinage. The “Genuine – Not Gradable” designation indicates that while the coin is authenticated, surface issues such as cleaning, environmental exposure, or other impairments prevent assignment of a straight numeric grade. Nevertheless, the primary design elements, including shield detail and portrait definition, remain clearly visible. As a curated PCGS-certified Victorian silver issue, this 1887 Great Britain Florin appeals to collectors of Jubilee coinage, Queen Victoria series specialists, British pre-decimal silver denominations, and 19th-century Royal Mint types with confirmed third-party authentication.
