1960 C.V.N.E. Imperial - Rioja Gran Reserva - 1 Flasche (0,75 l)

Wines bought to a retired wine distributor of Haro, La Rioja, in 2011. Bottle stored in a private cellar until today, under excellent conditions: very good filling level, cork, color, capsule, label, no leakage. Fully mature and therefore drinking well now, or cellar for next 20-25 years. The 1960 vintage was considered “Excellent” by the oenologists of CVNE. The wine was vinified for 12 months in one of the large wooden vats dating from the founding years of the winery, established in 1877, with no temperature control. It was then aged for approximately 10 years in 225-litre barrels, composed of around 70% American oak and 30% French oak, with the barrels themselves being between 15 and 20 years old at most. During its long ageing, the wine was racked 11 times, initially every six months, following the traditional Riojan cask-to-cask method. Depending on the vintage, it then rested for a further 36 to 60 months in the bottle racks of the winery’s historic cellars before being released for sale in the mid-1970s. It was hand-bottled directly from cask, bottle by bottle, and left unfiltered. *** All international parcels are shipped to the highest professional standards via premium UPS International Express, the courier’s fastest signature-required service. Each shipment is prepared in a specialist wine box officially certified by UPS / DHL, with every bottle packed individually and protected in three layers of bubble wrap. Given the nature of fine wine and the value of the consignments, all lots are shipped with full insurance coverage. ***
