Montegrappa, "Copernicus", limiterad 533/550 - Ohne mindestpreis - Füllfederhalter

Pen, Montegrappa, “Copernicus”, Limited Edition 533/550. Approx. 36 × 20 cm, height approx. 17 cm. Fountain pen. Considered the father of modern astronomy, Nicolaus Copernicus (1473–1543) was a Polish-born Renaissance polymath whose heliocentric theory of the solar system contradicted the beliefs of contemporary astronomers, philosophers, and religious leaders. His findings were not widely accepted for more than 200 years and remained banned by the Catholic Church until 1835. The first European scientist to propose that the Earth and other planets revolve around the sun is honored in the Nicolaus Copernicus 550th Anniversary Edition, which includes 550 fountain pens and rollerballs, as well as a 55-piece numbered Reserve Edition consisting of a fountain pen and a companion wristwatch. With the exception of its black and white celluloid grip section, the Nicolaus Copernicus pen is crafted entirely from sterling silver. Two central design elements are produced using lost-wax casting: a custom ruzzolino clip depicting a mathematician’s compass, and a working reproduction of Copernicus’ celestial globe positioned on the cap top. Both objects also appear on Copernicus’ official monument in front of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. Additional decoration is achieved through low-relief engraving, with vermeil depicting the sun on the lower barrel at the center of eight orbiting planets, each hand-detailed in opalescent enamel and distributed across the barrel and cap. Each enamel application results in subtle variations, giving every pen its own unique character. Traditional Slavic cross-stitch patterns decorate the blind cap and cap band, while Copernicus’ signature appears on the finial. The fountain pen features a piston-filling mechanism and a 6 mm 18K gold nib (available in EF, F, M, B, and Stub 1.1), customized with Copernicus’ likeness and the Earth orbiting the sun. The pen is presented in a custom walnut display case with an acrylic lid, allowing the pen to be viewed while stored.
